Under the Hood and Into the Cloud

Hey everyone!

Exciting things are happening at CausePlay, and I wanted to share some big updates with you all—both in the digital and physical world of this rolling cosplay mission.

🚨 The CausePlay Discord Server is LIVE!

First up, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of the official CausePlay Discord server! This has been in the works for a while, and it's finally time to bring together all the makers, cosplayers, and creatives who want to connect, share ideas, and grow together.

This server is built like the inside of a well-organized toolbox—everything has its place:

  • DIY & Fabrication forums for foam, 3D printing, electronics, and painting

  • Cosplay repair help and process sharing

  • Specialist roles like 🖨️ Print Wizard and 🎨 Paint Alchemist to show off your skills

  • Collaboration and feedback threads

  • Plus live events, challenge prompts, and eventually—virtual workshops

It’s all about creating a positive, welcoming space for everyone who loves making cool things, and I’d love for you to be part of it! You can join right now by clicking here. The server is set up with a clean, organized layout to help keep things easy to navigate, and we’ve already got some familiar community faces to join you there.

It’s open to everyone, whether you’re a seasoned builder or just cosplay-curious. Come hang out, share your builds, ask questions, and help shape what this community becomes.

🚑 Ambulance Update: Out of Paint, On to the Auto Shop

Meanwhile, in the land of grease and gears: the CausePlay ambulance is out of paint!
She’s officially wearing her new white coat with those original retro blue stripes proudly preserved. It looks amazing.

But… we’ve hit a new mini-boss: a mysterious Mass Airflow Sensor issue that’s stalling progress (literally). The ambulance is currently in the shop while we sort out the MAF sensor situation and wrap up a few interior upgrades. Once that's done, we'll be one step closer to being fully operational.

If you’ve been following along with the ambulance transformation, you know that this thing is going through a major overhaul, and we’re so close to having it fully functional. The goal is to have everything dialed in for future conventions and to make sure it’s running smoothly for all the mobile repair and workshop needs.

💸 First Funding Push – Before the Kickstarter

As you know, running CausePlay has been a labor of love, and we’re getting closer to the finish line. The total cost of the ambulance paint job came out to about $7,000—and as always, I want to make sure CausePlay is sustainable, so I’ve launched a few initial funding options to help cover some of those costs ahead of the Kickstarter campaign:

GoFundMe – For anyone who wants to help out in a more flexible way, my GoFundMe is up and running. Every dollar helps us get closer to having the ambulance ready to hit the road.

Buy Me a Coffee – Want to show your support with smaller, ongoing contributions? Buy Me a Coffee is a great option for that!

Ko-Fi Donations – You can also support CausePlay through Ko-Fi.

All funds will go directly toward finishing up the ambulance, and soon we’ll kick off our Kickstarter campaign to get CausePlay to its full potential, with more reward tiers, toolkits, and community-driven features.

What’s Next?

If you're ready to join the CausePlay journey, hit up the Discord server, explore the funding options, and stay tuned for more updates. We’re building this community together, and I can't wait to have you all along for the ride!

Thanks again for all your support—whether it's following along, sharing the word, or contributing in any way, it means everything.

Stay tuned, stay creative, and as always, Cause some play.

-Ryan
